The Delorean Car Show was held in Springfield, IL July 21-24. Time machines and stock Deloreans filled the convention center, and guests and vendors filled the presentation rooms. Everyone was kind and had a story to go with their car, as no two were the same.

Nobody showed up with a Bricklin by accident.

Some of the previous shows were a combo Delorean/Bricklin show.

It’s a shame DeLorean is dead, because a conversation between him and Bricklin about their respective cars would probably be hugely entertaining.

Never has a car needed an engine swap more, the Supra swap is a great thing.

The Delorean story and the Bricklin story are eerily similar.

Somewhere I have an article from the late 80s where they’re interviewing some industry guy and he says he warned DeLorean, citing the Bricklin, about the mistake he was making going with a new factory and unproven materials. DeLorean had to have known he was taking many of the same risks. Maybe he thought he’d handle it better because Bricklin didn’t really know anything about building cars.
